It is a visual delicacy spread across an area of 3 km². It was forbidden for motor boats to preserve its tranquility and is fringed by a golf course to the south, and Nek Chand’s famous Rock Garden of Chandigarh to its west.
The lake is a powerhouse of activity and is one of the most happening places in Chandigarh. It has something to offer to everyone and has been attracting a lot of tourists and locals ever since its inception.
As a tourist destination, Sukhna Lake is one of the most sought-after places. A brief walk along the bank of the lake is the best remedy for stress. The serene ambiance coupled with the harmonious chirping of birds in the backdrop relaxes the mind and takes you to another world. The spot is perfect for a deep introspection and thought.
Some Water Fun
Being the longest channel for rowing in Asia, water activities like boating, yachting, etc. are organized here with great enthusiasm. The lake is open to boating every day from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm.
Although tourists keep pouring in throughout the year, January to April and August to December are the peak activity months. Besides, it is quite a cost-effective entertainment option, with nominal costs being charged for boating and other fun water activities.
